Bio

After winning his first Winter X Slopestyle gold last January, 22-year-old Carlson set up a home base in Whistler with Poor Boyz Productions. Instead of spending the film season logging a series of short trips, as many skiers do, Carlson stayed put, minimized days lost to travel, and took advantage of every opportunity in Whistler. Carlson looks back on it as “not only my most fun season yet, but I think my most progressive season as a rider.”

With his first Winter X gold, it’s reasonable to say that last season was Carlson’s most successful to date. And it was his most prolific. At the close of a successful contest and video season, the Hood River resident spent six weeks filming in Mt. Hood to produce “On Top of the Hood,” a full-length ski video that he released this fall for free at ontopofthehood.com.

Sammy’s segments that came out this fall blew everyone’s minds, and it will be interesting to see how many accolades he takes home because of them.
